Nell’s Black Walnut Cookies (Nutty Fingers)
Black Walnuts are a lot of work, but as both food and medicine, they are of undisputable value. This is a recipe my Granny used to make with whatever nuts were available. Black Walnuts, Pecans, Almonds, any type of nut will do, but the rich earthy flavor of Black Walnuts is my favorite! Nell’s Black Walnut Cookies (Nutty Fingers)
Ingredients
- 1 stick Butter (1/2 cup)
- 1 cup finely chopped Black Walnuts
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1 cup cake flour (such as Swan's Down Cake Flour. AP flour works if that's all you have, but the cookies are not the same)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- small pinch salt
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl with a fork. After ingredients are combined, it is helpful to work the dough a little with your hands so that it is smooth. Form into oblong cookies approximately ½ inch by 1 ½ inch. Bake 12minutes at 325 degrees. When cool, roll in powdered sugar.Makes approximately 60 cookies.
